The people who make up an office administration team play a critical role in helping a business run smoothly. As a constant component across every industry, these essential team members uphold the standards of a cohesive team. For Administrative Professional’s Day (April 27), we took a dive into our office to spotlight some of SDC’s own administrative team.
Office administrative professionals can be categorized as those who perform clerical, administrative, and other supportive office duties. We chose several people from our office team to break down what it means to be an administrative professional.
In a world of uncertain shipment dates and supplier delays, our Purchasing Administrator and Office Secretary, Kathy, says staying on top of purchasing is a top priority. As soon as a request is submitted, it is entered into the system and then monitored for prompt delivery. She works with the entire SDC team on a daily basis. It’s no surprise that the people Kathy works with, and the family environment, are her favorite aspects of being part of the SDC team. Kathy helps team leaders and management stay ahead of deadlines, enforcing the project timeline.
With a growing list of quotes and purchasing requests, a few keys to being successful are staying organized and keeping a clear line of communication with both the customer and the SDC team. This helps engineers order the right parts while building relationships with our global supplier network.
For added purchasing help, along with supplying quotes and spare parts, we have Brady, SDC Sales Associate. The focus of this area of purchasing is essential for both the internal team and for customers. Working hand-in-hand with engineers, Brady helps to source released parts and machine drawings from our own in-house CNC shop and from SDC preferred vendors. As a customer-facing role, the sales associate provides quotes for the highest-quality parts at the lowest cost.
“Every task is very important and has a long-term goal.”
-Brady, SDC Sales Associate
On the Business Development team, Ashley oversees sales, marketing, and business operations. Working directly with managers, she forecasts and analyzes business capacity to assist in quoting new projects. The accurate lead times and delivery dates that are created in these quotes are extremely important and help our management team with a project timeline.
Ashley’s favorite part about working at SDC is the culture – “There’s always something new to learn and everyone is willing to help drive the company forward… I think the people you work with make a big difference and I think SDC is fortunate to have built a great team that makes coming to work interesting and fun.”
We take pride in our team and try to provide the best tools and support they need to be successful in their roles with us. The team-focused culture makes daily tasks easy and helps to create a fun, safe and proactive work environment. Each SDC member plays an integral part in maintaining a robust workplace.
That’s a wrap to SDC’s first Department Spotlight series. Thank you as always to our well-oiled team and have a happy Administrative Professional’s Day!
